President Obama has repeatedly said he'd like your health care plan you can keep your health care -- period so why -- Americans.
Getting letters like -- In order to comply with the new requirements for individual health plans under PP AC AA.
We must eliminate your current blue cross blue shield of Nebraska plant however.
That does not mean you're losing coverage we -- automatically moving into a new plan that meets the new PPA.
Yeah -- requirements.
But the person who got this letter.
Hasn't gotten a new plane in fact she doesn't have coverage at all she's fallen into what's being called the Obama care coverage -- and she joins -- now.
-- -- next she's a rancher in Colorado and she's with us this morning thanks for being here Tammy so you get this -- You know we had insurance what did they this new plan that -- -- pushing you -- to offer what was different.
-- offered much higher deductible.
And it offered a out of pocket that we didn't have before.
So it's causing what we actually pay for our health care coverage to be a lot more expensive even though the premiums stay pretty much the same.
So in fact anything are you happy with here coverage before that's.
Yes I was extremely happy we've we had a higher deductible and it worked for us.
-- -- on our own business so we have to protect our assets.
And so we had health insurance just in case something terrible would happen and -- -- shield has been wonderful to us.
We meet our deductible and they pay a 100% after that.
You know Tammy you that you also you -- -- that part and independent insurance he does -- know how these things work right but even this seems so shocking.
That after hearing the president say you can keep it if you like get getting a letter like this in being left to lift what seems to be a pretty awful option -- you know.
How shocking -- that well it it was.
Very shocking but the most except shocking part was.
That we were under the impression that.
We would be getting some kind of a subsidy from the government to be able to help pay an offset some of our new cost.
But when we went on the web site we found out that we didn't qualify for Obama care.
Because of how our business structure works so.
We were told that we had to go on Medicaid which I don't understand why I have to be on Medicaid but that's where they directed us to.
Nebraska -- not expand Medicaid so there will be no help for people like ourselves.
So we now are forced to buy a new plan all on our own -- face -- expenses by ourselves.
-- are falling in this gap I wanna say yesterday -- two years clear of cancer for you congratulations.
I know that that's good news for you but it was what it was wonderful news that -- and that it's unbelievable I know my mom -- -- breast cancer survive rhino every year counts.
What what's next moving forward for you mean being -- cancer survivor able to boast great health right now what do you mean concerns.
As someone who -- can't -- Well our main concern is being able to afford the out of pocket costs that.
So we're looking at different ways that we can try to.
-- -- for the new costs.
Whether that be go at some -- -- expensive monthly plan to keep them out of pocket costs lower.
But it's all gonna come out of our pocket.
And I know that every year I'm gonna have expenses I have to have a call cost the I have to have cat -- those are things that are required for me to stay healthy.
And so we already know that -- that those expenses.
And it would have been nice just to stay with the company in the plan I had that worked.
For us we'll certainly.
To any of those things are promised to you and I'm sorry that.
That promises not being made -- on in we wish you well congratulations.
On being two years clear and we thank you for joining us this morning sharing story.
