-- gotta be honest I'm a little nervous about this interview because all my personality doesn't match well with comedians because I'm gullible.
Under -- like -- comedians like gullible they really I don't understand why you'd want to.
Blatantly lied to me about something I don't know why should I -- I still lie I expected.
Browse -- the -- and I'm not like a prankster kind of guy either.
Like -- 30 Rock I play a guy was always -- people read I'll do that I'm here to make people laugh and give people a good time that's what I do.
Okay well so far so did you know I can easily.
Judge someone in like 92.
They -- if it's here.
The fear a nice comedian -- mean comedian did -- realize -- I'm old now all of you know give it back you know that's what I -- well I wasn't able to flip through.
Your new book how to beat up anybody you.
-- It did real drug dealing no I've never -- drugs -- remote especially at.
And actually his -- trip -- crazy look at -- like.
There's this for you real you've never seen a little yeah.
I have not at -- and if I can explain it to our audience there's over 500 pictures and man.
And and you're basically eating up every one yeah being buildings that have been knocked down you that you could easily taken over by editors how to.
I'll defend themselves the -- -- I think -- charity work is very importer you know.
And people need to do more to get back to the local communities -- chapter about how I teach self defense to strippers.
Correct and you also dress up as a woman and how women should kick people -- right well it's for safety tips for women you know.
Mean right here in the big city it's a great city but you know with tough economic times.
We all know that crime rates go up.
So therefore I've written a special chapter in this book for women only.
Are -- so let's let's back up is -- your first back this is my first book ever yeah.
Okay did somebody -- this idea or how how did you decide no one approached me with this idea this was all my idea I started this book my own.
About 67 years ago -- This book is all based on my standup act.
-- stamina and staying up since 1989.
Even a month there Iraq I still do stand up every night that's number one for me and in my stand -- back.
A lot of my step at this very -- -- it's very interactive with the audience.
And I do I talk about on the greatest athlete in the world the role model of children.
And it did you do martial arts and often looks -- life.
In real yeah oh yeah I mean the evidence is right here I know you say you're a beat a world bush campaign yeah I mean we're coming right here.
-- of the proof I mean.
Here's page nineteen or I'm getting the trophy from the president.
Of South America you know so that's -- -- right there there it is.
Okay and in the book you highlight things that that's -- -- -- -- yes I'm a week reader I'll be honest with you.
So I've actually -- my comprehension -- -- good.
You know so I've actually.
Pre highlighted and -- and circled all the capture important things in the book.
That is helpful a lot of it's repetitive.
Just about how awesome you are yet well look at the beginning you know he -- you need get the point.
Cross your nails or -- like your nails.
Let's see who what are people are people -- -- -- messages and there are questions I'll take questions from anybody.
Unopposed -- -- American know if you're online do you do FaceBook Twitter yeah I am online my website is world champion of the world dot com.
-- -- and that leads to my Twitter.
And my FaceBook -- are some fake pages on FaceBook the people made that are not really me but my real one is linked to from my web site.
And on Twitter and judo world champ.
And that's right now it's almost standup shows in New York City outside New York City when I go on the road those are on my website.
Are you married single thing that on world -- -- single yet.
Just got divorced couple hours -- give any kids lot of kids stay away dad.
Here and that's not funny if you really -- daily dad so I'm guessing you do not kids.
Correct this was one of the most disgusting.
Series of photos know that I mentioned there are must 500 -- -- -- -- -- other talk about the the photos about eating.
Yes about nutrition you take a pizza apparently now allowed to show the pictures the cancer -- instead of about -- I don't know I don't know are no rules against Michelle and I.
King says in the book.
You have a pizza and then you put -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- And in some American cheese because that's the best she's in the world because it's American and you -- -- and -- -- and the new folded up put in the microwave and -- when it's hot.
Then there's lots of pictures of it all live here say yes -- -- -- -- -- fast and what was the point of making this neon.
But does the -- champions -- Right well as the fighters you wanna get -- your punches.
And the more calories you eat the more power you get your questions.
-- -- doctors will tell you otherwise.
Because they'll say less calories is better right but tell me this name one doctor.
That's a karate expert.
I'm sure zero I'm sure -- Sonny probably -- how do return there on books they're having good flakier.
What do you think Tina Fey -- Alec Baldwin and they're gonna think about this book I have no idea they have not seen it yet it's in stores today.
Oh and I got to ask you about yeah what was written up in the New York Post today yes yeah I was in the the New York Post and apparently you -- at an event last night I believe there is what it is -- -- Tuesday it was Sunday night I had my book release party.
Okay and you had your friends pretend that he was punched.
Are lining up -- already is dead and -- well someone called nine or not.
-- this yet this is a self defense book right so I had a big poster you know.
Three foot by four foot poster.
Of of the cover of the book and the next to it a three foot by four foot poster of the signs saying.
Be safe be a winner.
By the book and if you don't buy the book this could happen to you so by the book for your own safety that's of the sunset and then in front -- I hired a friend of mine to lay on the ground and act like he's dead and he'd like fake blood all over.
And it's obvious his joke because the signs right there posters right there called nine online well it was a it was at this club called spin.
In New York City which is.
Fancy awesome ping pong club.
And one of the windows faces the subway.
So the people coming off -- subway can actually see this but both the signs are right there and it's in huge letters you know all of its a joke.
And it was up there and the guy who I had the guy laying there dead playing dead for four hours.
No problem everyone come up taken pictures how to laugh.
But someone thought it was real called 911 the paramedics and if the -- showed up.
When they showed up they want people to their party you read it no they did it at first because the guy kept acting like he was -- And in that he got to -- do it I'm like dude these are real.
-- in line real paramedics need to tell them that your acting.
And they finally did and then they were cool and in the head fire department guy.
Was actually I would I -- -- music video nine years ago from the Dave Matthews Band every day -- walk around the city just hugging people.
And and I also hugged.
Guys from fire departments the -- fire department I was actually guys that put me in that video.
So we saw -- yeah and then and they took off and really that was jokingly to -- this to the near post.
I don't know the -- photographers and stuff that the and you know some media people party.
The party was just for people in the book and worked on the book and there are some press people that are so.
Andy's cat -- pocono.
So you Twitter is this how you heat up at eight will this is these are people that have logged in a lump on her site okay cool and I don't really beat -- -- fire hydrant.
He newswire -- ticking him off then which one as an alternate care.
-- ask -- Andy's cat let us now yeah supposedly are here -- you got to let it fire you gotta put the fire hydrant on fire.
-- environments you gotta have chronic not that are laid up because it's water and then -- yet to do it's it gets your karate so fast.
That he actually generate heat and start a fire with your -- okay.
Hit you know you have since then mentioned you had 500 pictures in there anywhere.
Did you work with the same photographer for all of them I did all the photographs in this book were done by me.
When we're friends by me.
-- directed by -- all the clothes.
Because there's 100 there's no ghost writers on this book.
This and Clinton for the -- believe it or not I took this photo -- for the camera on a tripod a bit of a percent real -- I put the camera tripod put a timer.
I don't know about a foot away from allegedly Grand Canyon.
And a jump up in the air and time and right.
You know if you can't conceive this this picture that's pretty good idea -- is third annual floating out there hair -- -- a 100% sincere.
And then no trickery there yet -- what how this might look at this one there's like a bunch of -- as -- -- your world champion.
How did the turning.
About you know two feet tall to about twenty feet tall.
-- a lot of a lot of athletic books talk about how to pull up and gain muscle.
So how to get heavier I teach you actually had to get -- it.
And then -- running -- through this is the real -- -- this was taken from about four blocks from where we are right now this is.
At 2:30 in the morning during our first blizzard back January.
-- better -- better to train outdoors than -- Guys ask questions to do that Larry fox wants note who is a year toughest opponent it's my toughest opponent -- the in the future.
Ten behind it maneuvered in the for a lame lame lame whatever -- I call out the haters.
Yet there's lots of a lot of haters -- and you noted in the entertainment you know our that is what they stay -- -- -- and I politics but that.
That says a lot of people that watch the sags wanna talk politics all -- world editing the talk wood and anything what do you think.
That's gonna happen in the mid term elections the midterm elections yeah.
What are they happening.
But I think the Republicans in -- -- -- -- gonna win a lot I think they're gonna win a lot and do I do.
As some people think that like with Christine O'Donnell winning now that's really hurting her in action boot.
And Democrats are gonna come I don't think so you know there's there's so many things can happen and it's all waves and stuff like that you know.
And down all the election stuff.
You can only predict so much you know but just from a general sense is of what you get I think that's what's gonna happen.
The less I -- the porn star running.
Then things are gonna change.
Do you not like to comment usually on politics as an actor has a lot of while not an artist I'm OK okay I'm a comedian these aren't actor -- -- -- why act.
Also become a comedian number one I never went to acting school.
Or anything like that I learned by doing my first acting gigs.
After he spent about seven years of my first acting breaks -- television commercials.
You know I -- about you know sixty or seventy commercials and a second a little -- -- that comes some little bits and movies and such and such.
So I'm with a comedian first that's right come from you know -- -- so when people even -- actor -- I feel goofy doesn't feel right.
This do you have any tips for younger.
Comedians out there.
People who want to break incident yeah Demirel type of world I think.
You know it all goes back -- hard work you know people don't realize it but -- mean other comedians.
A new you know you you work hard you know so everyone now more so than ever I think young comedians are looking for that fast break.
I mean when I started there was no YouTube there was no FaceBook you couldn't just stringing together a two minute.
Video -- put on line and get -- hit you know you had to work your way up.
Through the club's getting first a solid five minutes we get everyone laughed -- for five minutes straight and then build up to twenty minutes and then build up to an hour.
So people need to work on.
That's a thing about standup comedy there's no tricks.
Involved it's because it's very basic it's a microphone you in the audience are.
How many have made as you know -- know it's not real native thought that maybe sometimes there are a bit like how many bad experiences do you have to go through.
With fans not liking what you're saying they're blaming McCarthy like and is starting on stand up yeah I started -- I think it'll just it was like most complex and I don't even judge them the first one to three years.
One to two years I would say because.
You're you're new you know and you need that takes a while for some -- the -- their voice so I don't even.
I I just let it go you know but if someone's been -- -- comedy 78 years that I can really judge him and be like.
Now they've done enough they should be able to have but a good act if they don't but also they have a thick skin too.
He also has some people are delusional also mean there -- some -- doing comedy for.
For thirty years in the get a laugh you know once a year they'll they'll have a good set and that's enough to keep them going you know if I was that way -- would quit -- secure.
You know and -- sets are almost always.
Almost always -- awesome you know I'd say you know.
One to three times a year -- have a set that that's not good but overall it's it's all good and when when you first start out it's obviously you know.
The greater ratio of you know you're much more hit or miss the -- the more you do it it's no knowing he gets funnier but your consistency.
Should be way up amusing that you should never -- my show and come away not have a good time and not -- ideal and that's why like I don't do any.
Politics -- my act you know because -- -- or religious stuff my act is escapism.
It's for everybody I'm not a political comedian and political -- are fine.
But that's just enough for me my act is for if you paid for a ticket to go to see my show no matter what background here from or whatever -- there to make you -- What clubs here near -- -- I do pretty much all the clubs there's about six I do on a regular basis there's Caroline's.
Basically about two blocks from here.
Their -- New York in the upper west side comedy cellar down the village on MacDougal street.
Comics and fourteenth the -- comic strip on upper east side.
82 and second and east bill.
On fourth street second avenue.
The -- O'Donnell hit options so what that's like New York is the best city in the world for standup comedy the -- -- The way and there's people on the streets every single day they could have really -- you could come any -- if you could have done anything of the even ask me that they're like do you like comedy and they're actually trying to sell me tickets first show that -- performing up.
Yep that's me yeah what I -- and sang a link.
Only -- being knocked up it's hilarious the -- you know it's it's it's the dumbest question the most annoying question he can ask -- -- do you like comedy.
You know that's a guessing -- you like air do you like breathing -- it's like everyone likes to laugh you know but -- that's the line I don't know where.
-- who teaches the people on the street.
It -- kind of unique to New York I don't know any other city that has.
Literally like the Times Square area has five different comedy clubs I -- that he's strictly an extended our screen asking you out there everything and I -- my faces and they have these -- of who's performing their in my face is on everyone -- them.
And I'm probably only up one of those clubs yet -- -- my face unlike all.
You know it's funny shelves and I think I saw people one in the act when they're like.
Yeah yeah that's happened he had -- sometimes you know someone will send me a message on FaceBook or Twitter saying.
Dude I went to -- new York and you weren't there this that are going to be there and -- like.
He got it.
You realize that this is New York there's all kinds of crazy things that -- -- to that's like.
I close my shows -- my website or my Twitter you know for people -- out and and it's it's easiest trip usually BI apologize for people asking you -- competent.
Yet because I don't like sitting on behalf of all the comedians yeah you've got all the data comedians like that approach yeah but that's not our call the impact but that's it's now -- -- -- -- that makes us look at his life.
But hey they -- much for coming in on thanks for having -- -- -- things first plane minutes with you yeah.
And again the book by due to -- -- there Friedlander how to beat up anybody yeah.
I don't know champion and it's it's an easy read because you've made it easy for a violated the comedy book it's me to get -- But I am guessing your fan base that understands what you usually talk about this -- -- possibilities for everybody that you know it's for safety and for lineups but hey it's always an accomplishment to read a book.
Yeah yeah do you -- on a one day I think maybe now do it do it nice to meet thank you meet you we'll be right back you are -- after this break.
