What was more importance.
I'm not sure from the beginning -- up.
You've got moved from slaves.
The idea how often you -- -- It was risky.
Russert -- being faithful to our roots what we've always being.
But we wanted to express that decency in your processor.
NBC's -- something more it is where they'll fight the American century.
All of the other hand what was option -- And delightful -- to see how these are commercial resonated.
The -- Michigan beyond Detroit and that which indeed and done more importantly has seen it done.
Drove traffic in in the -- -- because at the end of the day it's always about so selling costs and it -- We had had rates of interest in our counseling or branded especially in the 200 that was unprecedented them.
She believes -- I think the objectives -- -- -- you beached.
And to your boy -- -- Washington experience he they'll probably wasn't.
It was probably the most efficient.
Campaign we we ever made it threatened.
11 so he wants.
And so we -- them.
Shall we really had the -- to -- -- And being 100 that they live in median people seeing the -- that is Super Bowl.
And and done more importantly even the one more than -- and -- -- Suisse were some people.
The heat's on our web site to our ups and the -- -- The yeah.
YouTube number of pieces of your team receive best round on the living here.
And so between serving well -- winter -- and that would be my last comment because.
I think -- Sampson could be yields but can't commercial.
-- -- He doesn't always show our whole futuristic car does bode shorts features that people star.
It's about the spirit of Detroit and which leads the streets of -- and that he's looked.
All -- since -- -- and obese.
A very fresh approach.
To what TC.
Americans period because of the into the big Detroit is a -- so we'll see -- -- to -- history in this country and their weight is about the Detroit.
He's about that America.
And that's just American spirit filled.
You can -- but to me please stepped up and and and keep moving is probably what's.
What people he -- he comes on the heels of your revolutionary.
War themed advertisements for dodge posting your outfit ran advertisements and -- divorces that the I -- Graham you rise as high -- jokes and and -- we see what we make make us which was a very successfully.
Most commercial for the Grand Cherokee did a lot of pride behind me as any sort of staking your claim to being the American auto maker almost feel like is -- some over compensation here because the other two.
That you decided you know we're going to be the American -- -- convince people we are still an American brands.
I don't know probably.
There is a -- -- troops -- what you say we are.
Extremely proud to feel American made his biceps.
A stranger -- yeah something disease.
I feel very very grateful.
Too -- to deceive you -- leave.
Detroit -- -- great country so probably easiest pride is something that it's contagious than them.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Today we're here today with your entire lineup of -- -- Chrysler brand all of them have been redesigned and re engineered.
This -- of course is the one that we saw Eminem driving in the advertisement maybe not that.
Realistic that you would drive this economy it's -- 20000 dollar luxury car but.
You don't as it is it's been redesigned last -- model the Sebring wasn't one of the world's favorite stars -- obviously you re engineered it quite a bit.
This is kind of your calling card to be when your best selling cars I think that's very meaningful do you think this represents Chrysler.
-- Dennis the Menace -- -- -- -- should.
-- -- new processor.
There is a world of -- between the old crosses in your process in new Chrysler.
We found -- his passion for quality team that respects forward consumer.
The passion Paulson -- -- don't you know so and that's one elements of those kind of common element to include.
So we wanted to Billy Byrd.
Sit down does it give me excessive damages in those.
-- generics segment team in the US citizen being the difference to me didn't.
Car a year to segment except so our potential is huge we want -- to believer.
I'm up to showcase the best.
Four dozen -- -- can bring so quality team.
Attention to detail.
And maybe more importantly driving the way the -- those costs drive handle.
May be hated being there isn't some single file our European.
Groups we did in Europe we know about how to cock can handle.
-- may handle.
Don't shoot -- story.
And kitty everything has been -- in the sky and revives.
Drive train stalled trains.
Maybe also -- do that walled.
Basically lowering the price of the car if this is a result of the restructuring of Chrysler or.
How -- -- -- make a car that's got a much better interior a much better ride a much better engine but charged the same or less money for today.
And you were able to do a couple years ago but that's a very -- Points.
Power points in DC -- from Detroit commercial by the -- all the books.
Why should you.
You American customer.
Across the notion you know get the car from.
-- -- -- -- logistics transportation.
Taxes and never seem to have what we can do.
From the source.
And the American.
-- can -- how to make costs.
With the golf great engineers.
A processor and we have -- to be able to -- -- -- European do what's the Japanese -- doing.
NBC says he's got to be really showcases these approach -- quality team silence.
-- ten being.
Not just brings up from -- from the top of the American industry yet here in America so.
There is no reason why wouldn't you should pay.
More for a two to get the -- it comes from a across the ships as he -- it leave it -- feels a few yourselves at 200.
So -- But could common -- allowing -- to send him cross ranch.
He's about the luxury.
The luxury you deserve you know providing.
And engineering American luxury in American approach to luxury we cheese.
That we -- of hard work.
And not just a -- you mentioned.
Europe depressed U 300 is the flagship cardinal keeping -- actually going to be selling this in Europe under under the -- -- in charge of if you are so many jobs for personal issue ground.
When you still missing -- -- are you.
Promoting it as an imported car from America or do you try to disguise the fact that it's American -- we have to be not.
Trying to these guys.
We are promoting hate us a car -- in America we walked in new processor can bring.
Basis which she's quantity.
You're deficient lower.
And but that -- Meant to be.
To drive -- in the European car.
So we bring eighteen year old.
Hasn't got shot matches and I call Nokia ultimately industry of supreme car in Europe.
In these drives exactly as an -- super silence.
He drives in -- -- giant.
Race moves various moves -- of our power.
And -- subsidy tradable -- India as.
As you can count because -- was conceived was engineered its.
Here in America two fights.
We have traditional luxury which today potential to lead Colmes.
From the Germans from the premium Japanese and if you will -- -- this card meets the length of certain tax brackets in Europe is that right it was designed to fit a certain tax.
It was accidentally designed and changing hands to -- we Z European.
Lecture he consumer.
And so we child customer of the Al -- BMW -- this.
Here in America series also offers from presence -- these premium Japanese we shot -- -- less important in the in Europe and -- -- -- -- to be designed and engineered to.
To fight we -- those you've got the four wheel drive.
-- the rear wheel drive all wheel drive 300 also the minivan in your lineup over here.
Who is your competitor I -- you trying to go after the Ford Lexus.
Style of luxury or the Cadillac BMW star ledger are you really looking to take the more.
No the competitive -- more we almost thinking about.
Think about -- roster has been almost forever now.
Take out the very last year's -- you stumbled.
Trust has always been about design it's time.
We tell -- values that today and -- -- find in people's.
So I think the -- car -- mainly going to competes.
We Sybase people's.
And to -- to read here in the US.
Then he -- -- -- we've also competes it was a Fulton GM we will see I guess it will obviously.
But the -- intention was just -- designs -- best.
Looking constantly striving column in the highest level of quality.
In the industry on -- 300 to that of the level of quality team.
He's he's a total break through and not -- cross dressing for the whole American industry.
Think about that these kinds of most -- -- car.
Two to drive to cut to greet silence is also a sign off of quantity.
Three cars in the lineup now I imagine you're planning on filling up that lineup in the coming years which way to go to get smaller than -- 200 to get a sports car in the lineup or maybe even something above the 300 what's next.
So I can't be set fifty feet but that we'd like to continue -- -- -- does a good game.
The cross of funerals of -- to provide the taste the flavor from the curious quantities wherever a series of markets wherever south volumes.
So wherever -- -- -- segments wherever it is our customers.
On the markets.
We really bring.
The cross serves and you cross -- approach.
When she did -- bring more and including people like you to be more technology.
And a great.
You can that I can -- so was he sees where we are going to do so you.
-- -- -- fall for what's next but for sure.
Between the all the time segments where there is a market and -- consumers in -- pockets.
Fall our products -- -- -- -- CEO president of president's very much for talking to us today thank you.
We -- a quick commercial break now after that's got out distinctly American -- series.
And luxury cars we go -- to racing cars with us today Scott Atherton the president and CEO of the American Le Mans series one of the premier sports car racing series.
In the world gets picked it up for season next weekend that a receiver with a classic.
Twelve hours of Sebring was -- the fifty -- drilling and exactly fifty ninth running of the Mobil 112 hours of Sebring -- tremendous amount of history.
You guys have been running that race for us is thinking I think nine -- it's correct all the big turnout this when your biggest -- -- -- -- what we expect.
On the track on the next weekend.
Well we are.
Bless this year with a 57 car entry which is a modern day record if you look back -- history books there was times -- Sebring had a bigger number but.
By modern day standards and with a -- -- of their cars those little.
The things they used to drive back and if that's true and the requirements for pit lane and how much space and just the overall professionalism.
Makes this the largest grid ever.
Brand new prototypes from -- Audi Aston Martin's new GT cars in in the GT class in America Lamar series has been.
The benchmark setting year after year and this year it's only gonna get better.
That American Le Mans series -- tied in with the Le Mans racing in Europe and it's becoming more of a global series -- -- several series that are kind of tied together it was international trophy as well now for some teams that take.
Apart in races around the globe that's right we -- name comes from our direct linkage to the 24 hours on the -- which most people in the industry would say is the most important car race in the world.
You know by US standards there'd be some argument there -- on a global scale that's the one.
Not only are we sharing -- name but we also share -- rule book so all of our rules and regulations are identical to those of tomorrow.
This year they're introducing a global sports car championship -- Intercontinental Lamar -- and of that series which would involve.
Three races in Europe plus the 24 hours on the -- Two races here in the states opening up at Sebring and then we finish up in October -- -- And then two events one currently confirmed another hopefully to come in Asia.
-- -- some teams coming.
To Sebring just a race because they're part of that series -- the big -- -- being one of my guess Peugeot was one of them and Sebring because of the significance of that race it's always attracted a world class entry many teams from Europe.
This year because of the Intercontinental markup it makes it official and they'll be north of -- entries that'll be specific to that island city.
Portion of it.
We'll get a little bit more to the upcoming season and then one of the big pieces of news those that you have a new broadcasting agreement even the show this on the ABC.
You -- interest -- the distance Internet broadcasting as well yes exactly we we just have to the first the year announced our new television relationship it is all under the ABC ESPN umbrella.
Do you Sebring is the example will open up on Friday with a live qualifying session and ESPN three dot com.
All day Saturday thirteen hour broadcast on ESPN three dot com come back Sunday afternoon with a network show on ABC.
And then that ABC show you will then be re aired on ESPN two and then available on demand so.
A tremendous expansion of potential audience.
Historically for the past ten years for us -- are receiving broadcasts has been on speed.
Great relationship with speed which continues today but were hopeful that a broader platform ABC network and ESP on.
We'll just make the series that much more available and -- that.
More fans today -- -- audience the potential audience obviously NASCAR still king of car racing in the United States Indy -- racing.
Had a little trouble last couple years.
Not nearly where NASCAR is what does it take to bring your.
Brand to the masses to build up that the audience because you know what NASCAR has going for -- Is 36 races pretty much every week for nine months -- think -- series is nine races this season.
Is that make it more difficult to connect with the fans you know it almost becomes Sebring is an event but it's hard to maybe follow people throughout the year of the different teams throughout the -- that -- challenge for you.
It is and it's the nature of our racing endurance car racing is is unique in its configuration.
For instance a twelve hours of Sebring you know that's.
Three or four NASCAR races.
Combined right there.
24 hours -- you know exponentially even more.
Add all of our racing hours together we have a very large season the fact that it's more hours on each weekends is what limits the number.
The other reason that restricts than quantity of races we have -- we have to give our teams the opportunity to go to the mall every June and race in the 24 hours.
This year it even gets more compounded because there's a separate test weekend that the required to attend.
So how do we go to the masses I think we're in the process of doing that -- of this new television relationship and digital platform will help.
Our demographics we've always been a premium brand of motor sport in other words we're not trying to appeal to everyone.
Any more than a BMW or -- -- a Ferrari is trying to appeal to everyone.
We deliver a very attractive demographic and we do a very efficiently.
The base of our fans is growing though especially in the younger demos which is encouraging to see.
But yet you've -- the prototype class with the -- -- these really fantastic looking advanced cars but then you regular cars are much closer.
To the real cars that people -- actually go out by then stock cars are of course open wheel racing Formula One and Indy cars are.
Our concerns are gonna -- the manufacturers.
Have to find that appealing that this is a real win on Sunday.
Sell on Monday kind of proposition.
You're exactly right we one of the unique elements of LaMont style racing is there are -- classes of cars out -- competing at the same time to prototypes which are.
As you say The -- virtual state of the art of automotive engineering.
The GT categories are.
Examples of what you and I -- if we were fortunate enough to go by and drive ourselves on the street so.
The Corvette is actually a Corvette from the production line Ferrari BMW Porsche same examples.
It's the best of both worlds you have.
Absolute bleeding edge technology in the prototypes where it's the technology under the skin that is connected to the road car example.
And then in the GT categories it literally is -- what they what they -- You've also been really big on alternative fuels you've got a whole separate championship lined up and thank you very confusing having to have an archipelago you've got cars running on 85.
I -- -- all and is one of the feels he had a couple of hybrids pocono and then how does this work is almost the sub.
Championship within noted that the larger American Le Mans series you what's the state of the different kinds.
Alternative -- -- -- run this year and you know how do you decide who's the winner of that championship.
The Michelin green next challenge is exactly as you say it's a competition within each of our races and you can be defined as easily as this it rewards.
The package the car engine driver combination that goes the farthest the fastest.
With the least environmental footprint utilizing the smallest.
Petroleum displacement that that's a mouthful here's what it means.
Be the most efficient car that goes the fastest and -- -- the least is who wins this award.
And that it's -- it's a partnership we have with the Environmental Protection Agency the Department of Energy.
An -- -- international which is an engineering society that literally sets the global standards for the automotive industry among other things.
They all got together and defined exactly what he is green racing and this competition is designed to provide an incentive for manufactures.
Engineering firms of all description to bring their latest technology to the racetrack.
Development and then apply it back to a consumer product so.
We have among other things for different alternative fuels in use.
Cellular -- -- 85 ethanol so this is second generation ethanol doesn't involve any food -- product ours happens we made from wood waste.
Zero -- clean diesel which is as the name implies it -- -- clean diesel fuel alternative right now which is available for consumers.
And then -- -- and all is yet another.
Alternative fuel that.
Is being developed in partnership -- BP and our friends at monster.
Along with hybrid technology that gets blended in -- have virtually -- rolling laboratory.
Of technology being developed that's on the racetrack today that'll be part of our consumer product availability in the not distant future portion.
We're a hybrid down eleven to one of the races last year ran under.
It wasn't it didn't feel one of the classes and -- sort of there -- an unclassified -- is that going to be.
Classified -- -- they've got a new one coming up and on eighteen spider.
Hybrid as well you can be able to fit that in to -- these -- this year or is this something couple years down the rubber for that type of car works into -- I think -- another year away.
We would welcome back car and others like it to continue racing simply to showcase the technology.
This technology is so new that it literally doesn't have rules and regulations written yet that would properly.
Put it in two a controllable situation.
What we don't want to do is provide an impediment for manufacturers to wanna bring something like that it's exactly what our series is about.
We're not about going backwards this is about getting to tomorrow as fast as possible.
And the way you do that is to allow manufacturers and engineers to think outside the box and taking Porsche is example which is literally a benchmark example.
The challenge for all of high performance and luxury car manufacturers is to retain all of the attributes that make those brands what they are.
But going forward they're gonna have to do it in a much more fuel efficient much more environmentally sustainable way.
So allowing them to really push the envelope of technology.
And make sure that a portion of tomorrow provides the same level of excitement and exhilaration -- today if we can be part of that solution then -- on -- something.
Lot of people forget the car -- started to prove who made the better car not necessarily who was the fast improving the very -- was all about that.
Your series is definitely about that you guys also run a car company.
-- -- Her specialty auto maker here in the United States one of the few inaudible do you go to make this year yes it's tough to see one these days we've been building some of sports cars for the past few years though you've got a new one.
The -- these spirit of Obama I think it's called -- this is a wild -- option was this inspired by the battlefield -- looks like -- that's just -- wind tunnel derided no this is you -- credit where credit's -- this is inspired -- don't -- -- who's the founder of the American -- series and his son Danny runs -- -- -- development they -- the manufacture of the -- road cars.
I actually was sitting next to -- when he was looking at a picture and I won't say what car.
But he said was that look like and has -- well I don't know.
And it was his inspiration at that moment for what ultimately became the -- seat which as you say is one wild car.
Certainly original here actually going to be racing that in this series as well.
And making history version is the street version going to be sold -- -- -- -- is -- -- only -- destined to be sold in the United States the first.
Issue of -- the first edition is a European spec car.
The plans -- to make the car available in the states right now -- There's -- believed to prototype -- -- versions and there's two race cars so they're kind of being developed in tandem.
And that the car is scheduled to make its racing debut at Sebring march 19 so other -- -- a very large powerful engine.
The fact that I can assure you that answer sounds great -- does it has surfaced signature -- no sound has been retained what's -- -- happen and CEO and president of the American monsters really -- driven by that will be back next week at 2 PM until then over to fox car report.
Dot com for the latest news Automotive News and reviews this week for taking a look at the new 2011 Ford Explorer.
And you could get a look at the video now read the full review on the website we'll see you next week.
It was once the best selling vehicle in America that wasn't a pickup truck and king of the suvs.
Now after falling on hard times in recent years.
The Ford Explorer has been reborn with a modern look.
A focus on fuel efficiency and a cabin packed with technology -- near luxury levels of comfort for seven passengers.
Full size adults let myself actually fit in the third bro but it.
It's a much more entertaining place when you use the optional although folding feature to open up the cargo area.
That's just -- were going.
Power comes from a 283.
Winning five miles per gallon highway in explorers with front wheel drive as blasphemous of a concept is that maybe.
As it's built on the same platform as the Ford Taurus this explorer is technically a -- or is that like to call it the truck that stuff.
All wheel drive versions come with this terrain management system that has a number of settings to enhance its ability.
And a variety of services including one that's purely convenient for where I am right now.
It -- that get you to be.
-- of the year for the -- you go looking for -- it should be able to handle just about anything make its program.
Including 5000 pounds worth of stuff to tell it trips they go that.
Far off where.
Perceived need all the road the explorer has a driver -- -- curve control which is obviously different stability control.
Because they have different names and all independent suspension helps make it better handler and more plush than any explorer before.
The ride on this is really -- it could be the official car of gravel roads.
Of course since most explorers will have their biggest adventures on the streets of suburbia it can also be outfitted with a featured distinctly suited to that environment.
A self parking system but this never gives them -- in the 2011 Ford Explorer -- guest Hulu Fox News.
