Welcome back everybody I'm Rick hold -- Chris dialogue as promised Fox's.
Still politics editor.
He writes a daily power play -- good to see Chris good morning.
You'd be with Rick how you doing I'm doing well thank -- wanna ask you about this New York State congressman but first I wanna see if if we can confirm some reports that I'm seeing on the wires now about senator Jon Kyl getting set to announce his retirement.
Well that's certainly let's let's put it this way Rick that seems to be the strong indication.
At this moment that it -- will hear the retirement announcement.
Senator John -- after very long service on -- in Arizona and you know he's one of the old bulls of the Republican Party in the senate this guy is that in many ways the point man on foreign affairs point man on national security for the Republican Party.
He and John McCain have formed a very powerful alliance and his departure will be very significant.
Is his departure expected take take place immediately or will -- serve out the remainder of his term.
If he does in fact retire what we would expect would be that he -- -- about the remainder of his term and that this would be an announcement of his decision not to run in 2012 much like we saw.
From senator Jim Webb Democrat from Virginia yesterday this is the season.
In which people who -- to be decent to their parties.
-- whether they're gonna run or not they announced their intentions now.
Because that provides enough time.
For another member of their own party to get a campaign together get up and get running so this is that this is the magic the magic two months or so when all that happened.
It's now senator Webb's announcement to was seen as some bad news for President Obama and for the Democrats in terms of their chances and hopes to.
Hang on to control the US senate.
Does this announcement now from senator -- -- Sort of negate that bad news is it -- washed do we have any sense of of how this all plays out whether the Democrats had any chance.
Of winning a senate seat in Arizona.
Weather is always a chance.
And I'll I'll say this Virginia will likely be hotly contested state.
If as many expect what happen current Democratic National Committee chairman and former Virginia governor Tim -- does in fact jump into the race.
That's going to be that's going to be a real fight.
Because the presumptive.
Republican nominee right -- right now is former governor and former senator the man that -- be.
It George Allen now that would be a real clash of the political titans in Virginia what it would probably come down to in that swing state.
Is how Obama his popularity was in the Old Dominion.
Out in Arizona it's a different story that's a Republican state.
And has become more Republican.
As the fight over illegal immigration and crime has gotten deeper so.
I think what Democrats are looking at at there's some people already mentioned what if Gabrielle Giffords is recovered enough.
So that she can run but I think we should point out the woman said her first word since the terrible tragedy that the -- her yesterday.
And people shouldn't let their politics.
Get ahead of their good wishes for her return so it's probably too soon to speculate on that but yes.
Some big Democrat could make a splash in Arizona if they came in and pushed hard.
Any states competitive.
Yes I would think a bit premature.
As much as everyone wants to see the quick recovery.
About congresswoman Giffords.
Talk about her potential run for the US senate seat all right let's talk because you mentioned Tim -- and I read your power play this morning.
With great interest as I do every day.
And you mention -- former governor came.
Current chairman of the Democratic National Committee is.
Really sort of the winner.
In in this embarrassing -- situation that snowball so quickly where you know.
At 2:30 PM what we heard about topless photos of a a male congressmen.
Being posted on Craigslist by 5:30 PM.
-- said congressman was announcing pay his resignation this whole thing happened so fast the governor came.
In your estimation -- came out on top after all that was said and done -- -- well in a weird way because the story of the day politically in Washington yesterday.
Was Webb's decision to not run.
And how that was gonna create a real problem for Democrats and holding onto -- senate majority and what is -- gonna do.
Well this to worry about congressman Chris Lee with so bizarre.
And the picture with so goofy.
I am with the shirt off that it blew everything else out of the water for the rest of the day and nobody can talk but I think in that bought -- in the Democrats.
A day to try to figure out what they wanna do and whether or not -- really does want to step down.
From the Democratic National Committee and run for that seat because if he wants to run as I said this is going to be a tough race he's got to get going now so this bought him a valuable today.
When people -- watching him but were instead watching Chris -- meltdown.
The picture was goofy but I will say.
I bet if we know that that the man obviously takes good care of himself by I must say just sort of stepping back is that as good as a man in his early forties.
I thought I could just like I need to hit the gym.
A little bit more frequently that I have right now I'm sure I'm sure that if you had an embarrassing photo online -- be just -- buffer account well.
Total -- well the crazy thing is that we're gonna think of Biden and his thing is that.
Is -- a congressman or former congressman -- himself wrote a piece only about a year and a half ago warning about the -- -- posting pictures and personal information on.
Yes yes yes well.
I'll say this prickly goes down in history now as having -- -- sex scandal in Washington history -- two hours but he packed a lot into those two.
It's -- -- did.
All right well good to talk -- you Chris Chris is.
Latest -- Check it out of power play you can have been sent to your inbox.
Good to talk to Chris thanks again.
