For example the after the show show for this Tuesday in New York City where it is -- snow and outside.
Could be big tomorrow though look at that right avenue of the Americas cup -- I -- -- -- video Allen last week or the week before or that we can put errors -- like this would be that's -- six.
Oh school term even in five weeks.
Winner I want all the planets I literally -- that range you can -- of people.
-- have a -- aggression and see you upstairs this you will.
We don't know if he's there for sure so let's just go ahead an -- and I haven't -- sorry you still you still mine that.
They didn't -- today in the final twenty minutes of our live television program they announced the Oscar nods out he would be a Kodak Theatre.
Out there and Hollywood and we had with us and live -- Dominic Patton -- with a -- dot com and we're hoping to talk to him Dominic can you hear us from oh.
Los Angeles right now.
He's not wearing a microphone yeah.
Aren't so he's a senior editor at the -- dot com and -- he Davis his best predictions that.
He said that it's really going to be as we hear you now going to be a nail biter between the fighter -- -- -- isn't it no matter for you between the social network and the King's Speech or the fighter and McCain's speech.
Social network in the King's Speech all right so and what you're saying so eloquently in our broadcast show.
Was that you believe the social network is really for the younger generation in the King's Speech transcends time and all generations.
I mean I think the social network -- you know this is the story about the founding of FaceBook you know some people say it's a -- Citizen -- for our times ran for the King's Speech I mean that appeals to I mean.
Broke my heart -- -- 93 year old grandmother who lived through the war remembers that my parents remember -- -- They beat these are historical figures of grand importance told in a very private way that.
Brings them to life I mean did this this is what we want our leaders to be and in times like this that story is an inspiration to everyone.
Yeah well I took Dominick I took for all through my kids to both of the movies back to back he actually liked the King's Speech better.
But what goes in its favor is the fact that the members of the academy are older and and that those -- the people who are gonna vote so.
It's probably a done deal for the for Colin -- -- you think.
Well maybe I mean I think Colin as the best actor is definitely a definitely a he talked to hit top bet I would say.
But I think there's another thing involved there too this just a generational thing in terms of the voting it's also.
You know nobody and -- -- members of congress tonight we'll certainly make the president aware of this nobody likes to feel like all they wield -- a rubber stamp.
You know so -- -- network has cleaned up -- I said -- you know we talked about before the critics' awards it when he won a Golden Globe.
But now you know academies like whoa hold on -- we want to take this in a different direction.
They learn from her locker last year Hurt Locker was a straight through wind and a lot of people voted for her locker -- they wanted the anti avatar vote.
And for better for worse I wouldn't necessarily agree with that I think Jimmy Cameron.
They did a magnificent job making a movie that change the way we make movies.
Forever but nonetheless his ex wife Catherine Roosevelt was certainly -- an amazing movie -- what we're gonna see here I think is something much different.
People have -- -- -- -- actually stand there and they're gonna think about that ballot before they actually market this year and that's something very different but the campaigns the campaigns are gonna make a lot of different -- Yeah and and in our broadcast -- you alluded to the political campaigns on Capitol Hill and at the type of gamesmanship that will be going on now we're just trying to -- the picture to win.
It didn't -- -- the main character and social network was he nominated for best actor.
Yet he was Jesse Eisenberg who -- I mean he hit his Mark Zuckerberg.
You know that it's a little bit whose elegant -- -- and -- but I thought he did a fantastic job so is my first it was amazing you know that's an amazing and I actually you know I was really surprised are.
I personally thought would definitely get a nomination for best supporting actor you might laugh and think think that I'm just bringing sexy back but honestly I thought Justin Timberlake was amazing mr.
I really did I thought he was Dow's stellar job.
Yes and you really felt like he was that character.
And you -- -- get -- yet.
-- -- -- I went home and just like Google every single person in that movie because you wanted to know the people were so true to life he wanted to know more about that.
So I I -- I -- I think seven.
And I think one thing we'll find about social networking years to come is that is a movie that will be noticed the movie that launched a million careers like in a way that Star Wars did.
You know already Andrew Garfield who play the best and -- supporting wrong that he's the new Spider-Man Jesse Eisenberg I mean just he's as -- just he's a star character actor for the decades to come and Justin Timberlake who really took his career from the immune from being a musical superstar to I think being a Hollywood -- this is gonna be a lift off -- -- -- And one of the other movies -- a lot of people saw and -- is is the fighter.
You know without Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale and -- a spectacular film.
Oh my god you know.
I gotta tell you this you know I think you guys probably see this -- you know so often when you watch a film there's a point when you're like gods -- movie.
I actually forgot I was watching a movie sometimes especially watching.
When Christian and Marc -- together on screen I mean I know -- this movie was a labor of love for Mark Wahlberg but what you saw on screen.
That was hearts and that's that was what kind of -- the people talk about -- Everything in that story I felt like I was watching some of my cousins I mean I'm not no disrespect to my cousins but they know what I mean.
Let me -- let me ask you -- that know anything about that movie but my I have date night Saturday night with my husband doesn't.
And and and we -- go to a movie and to dinner our favorite date night now he wants to see the fighter and I wanna see the King's Speech -- speech.
I don't know why are you sick King's Speech I -- them than the back story here is -- I convinced him to go to Black Swan on our last movie day night.
And he kind of was upset with me after that really I like I act like the movie that I can just.
I can feel that pain I don't I think.
But I gotta I gotta agree it's King's Speech it really I mean King's Speech is I mean look -- the movie is about a marriage and the queen the woman we know is the queen mother queen all of the older Queen Elizabeth.
She goes out of her way to save her husband and and also let's also announced and save the British empire and saving him -- many they would say in saving the British empire during world -- the early days of world war to save democracy.
It's a tremendous film about all family and that's -- really interesting to I think we're seeing films that are talking about larger issues social network talking about the digital era we live in King's Speech talking about leadership in a time of war many things like this but these are told is truly.
Intimate human stories for and that is for all the criticisms we all -- -- with.
That is the best of what Hollywood does absolutely and we're looking -- we've split the screen with you and -- speech and you've been a standout performance as well by Geoffrey Rush I mean that guy -- -- now.
Unbelievable about it.
And the fact that I don't look at the range of Geoffrey Rush an Oscar winner on -- out of the King's Speech now and he's going to be back is captain Barbosa and parts of the Caribbean for later this year that.
That's a nice preview for us all right Dominic -- -- -- I can convince my husband for the King's Speech I don't know I might have to.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Well you know -- telling you gone to Barack dot com and look at some of our coverage do a little bit ever read -- -- let me tell -- it's a good film.
But I'm not gonna argue if you guys go see the fighter you're not -- that they're gonna go wrong there either are both great thanks Dominic Patten senior editor at the -- dot com.
Want to get the information -- thanks a lot.
Next stop the Oscars coming up yup.
-- see you tomorrow about.
