-- welcome congressman Alan Grayson from Florida Orlando I mourn your loss congressman.
-- villain tonight.
I'm feeling fine you appreciated when voters support me I'm now to before in elections but I don't really need two win an election to feel any personal validation.
Much to do the best job by camp for the voters and if they want to give someone else a chance but that's life.
A -- because the Democrats didn't vote we don't have the votes on Election Day yet but.
From the early voting.
Which is about half the voting on Florida -- includes.
Joining -- -- -- for two weeks before Election Day and voting by mail in the early voting as compared to 2008.
The Republican vote was down by 20% and the democratic -- -- them by 60%.
-- just in my district but around the state that's why you saw Democrats lose four congressional seats and four and six.
State house seats to states senate seats and every statewide race in -- And it wasn't just in Florida it was all around the country except possibly in new England -- the West Coast everywhere.
The Democrats didn't show up in that Democrats don't vote than Democrats can't win.
Why do you think the motivation was not there for Democrats are -- and our numbers.
In my opinion it's because we didn't deliver for our constituents where the Republicans always deliver for their constituents you know.
If the rich want tax cuts the Republicans give tax cuts for the rich.
If corporations want lax regulation and then Republicans give corporations lax regulation.
But if you look at what the democratic constituencies that -- for the past couple years they haven't gotten it yet public you know did not get immigration reform.
Libyan did not get the employee free choice act in many cases didn't come up to a vote.
And I could go on and on that way if you're not gonna deliver for your people question they deliver for you.
What would you have done differently.
I think that we should have taken up the things that our constituencies.
Wanted and I think we should have pushed them through and I think that.
Requires -- certain toughness on the part of Democrats that.
So it's bigger than it was what -- saying it's not nothing you personally could've done but the Democrats as a whole.
Needed to be more aggressive in terms of promoting their value.
I think there's any question about that in my particular case one and 2008 point 4% of the vote.
If you look at the results from Tuesday you'll see.
That there were 24 Democrats who won by 10% of the book or -- -- -- a lot more than four.
And 23 of those 24 Democrats lost on Tuesday in addition to that another 44 Democrats who won by more than 10% of the vote in 2008.
Lost on Tuesday so what we have here with the way.
And you know to conserve -- -- five foot -- but you can't circle of 500 foot wave that's gonna -- you.
I'm guess is there's no love lost between you and Dan Webster.
You know look the voters want him that's fine with me.
They wanted to give -- -- what I said on election I would bet we had cut foreclosures in my district and half.
Since the great for mandatory mediation programs adopted by the courts in Orange County.
And I would hope that he would do something for -- to help people keep their homes we doubled the amount of federal money coming in -- district.
Through our -- notification program and equipment coordinator on our staff.
This is competitive grant money not formula grant money.
That's big if what district another hundred million dollars -- called on him to do the same I think that if he delivered good things for people in the end it will support should.
Here is gonna play in its entirety the controversial and that was and I'm congressman -- greats and I approve this message religious fanatics try to take away our freedom in Afghanistan in front end right here in Central Florida -- yourself your husband Daniel Webster wants to impose his radical fundamentalism and she should submit to -- That's in the Bible.
Webster tried to deny battered little medical care integrate to divorce -- users submit to him.
He wants to force -- bringing to bear the child.
Submit to me Taliban Dan Webster hands off our bodies and our laws -- and a mistake.
Well we replaced -- with a different man but in fact.
So things and those that men that are absolutely true I mean it is in fact true that there -- stringent legislation improvement.
Better equipment from getting bullied anyone from getting an -- you know he'd seen it such that it is if it's true you know maybe they promote that -- -- -- -- Yeah avalanche accident this thing you do that many of the program yeah.
But I mean just the finish without saying -- he would he wants to force -- to women to bear the child that is absolutely true.
You know I I think we need it Democrats need to call Republicans -- count on socialist whose world economic issues and that's what that.
I put them apart you know that the part where you say well he wants women to submit to man that was taken and a conflict he did not really say that he says the opposite you know.
Not true he literally said those words.
You said those words with a full context was he wants men not to think that -- do not say.
I do not promote that part of the Bible what he sent.
No he said that the Bible says it's women must submit to -- and he actually did say that those words and and -- -- don't forgot to think based from a what I -- said.
The 13 out of twelve before Democrats who won by less than ten points.
Two years ago lost this year I don't think you can point to point at that we ran out of it doesn't and -- that that was called the but it.
What would you do now and what what are your plans now we would you want -- run again.
I don't know I mean obviously I'd like to be a good husband and a good father -- the only member of congress who has five children.
-- -- in school.
And and -- -- -- a particularly the ones who were five years old started campaigning when they were two years old but missed a lot.
And I'd like to be able to spend time with them on the congressman from Disney World so.
I get to tell people on election night I'm going to -- people.
-- that's very funny but you are also a successful businessman and you have a business going now we get back in the business.
What are your plans.
I honestly I haven't really thought it through.
I I do feel that I touched a lot of hearts.
Looking back on this campaign on the -- a couple of examples.
And on Sunday a couple of weeks ago.
Volunteers made 52000.
Calls to Democrats -- district urging them to vote.
These are volunteers were talking about not phone banks were paid canvassers but volunteers.
Last week that the week before the election we got -- 100000.
Online contribution to -- campaign.
That shows that there's a lot of people felt I was speaking for them.
You have said that the president needs to be.
I or going to some of look of your exact words here I think you said that the more of of more more of a fighter.
You said that Democrats any more progressive in their policies.
The that was -- president too conciliatory and his.
News conference the other day but Republicans.
I think what I would like that Democrats would electrify Democrats is to see our leadership -- -- -- -- talking to the president you're talking about certain Reid Nancy Pelosi everybody who's in charge.
To really take on the Republicans and then not be so willing to give them -- -- them I think.
In the same way that Republicans.
Take no prisoners.
People are looking for Democrats to be fighters for that -- you know the country.
Now essentially have a Republican -- in the democratic tribe and if our leaders are not gonna fight for us when the world.
It saddens me that I mean we got Health Care Reform Wall Street reform equal pay for women.
And a whole number of things that Obama knew we had a small window of opportunity get these things done.
Many 5% of working families got tax reductions but many Americans don't feel those things -- see those things and they live in fear.
That -- a medical reform is only gonna hurt them -- help them.
I think that above all people one of the few government jobs program that would put them back to work and we've -- -- -- that.
Well the fear that they'll be called socialist right -- god forbid you -- public -- works seven projects administration like Roosevelt.
And then the word socialism rears its ugly head.
But look the private sector is simply not employing enough people to its full employment so that choices we have a constituents -- -- choices that we can have the government hiked them the other choice that we haven't settled until -- -- those on -- within their car.
I don't really icy -- -- will hear and I worry that we have just gridlock because.
You've got then Democrats who can't get a lot done them if they continue to run scared of Republicans.
The Republicans get in the way.
I don't see anything happening for the next two years -- you.
I don't understand why why we epic runs scared we represented.
An impulse -- people to care about other people I mean it's that we represent a fundamental part of human nature.
The park called compassion.
That's the part that has been active in society -- with respect to me that's an interest 3000 years we've known that it just decide -- -- Feed the hungry that shelters the homeless and that people.
We've got something to be ashamed of.
Yeah I don't think so I.
I wish you the very best I IEA you know I -- I love the fact Houston at the -- -- nanny took a lot of hits for saying things like Republicans wanted to die but they hope.
My point you know that this has been this quote -- more than anything else I can think up in the past two years.
What I think to what I'm off the absence of Republican health -- Clinton but -- admit that the Republican health care plan amounted to do get sick.
-- plan was good if you do get sick and die quickly yeah I think they were.
And -- I think you're right I think that now you're right and I appreciate the correction you if you put it in proper context and I did not.
So I'm sorry for that and but you've got people did take -- -- the context and you got a lot of wax for that.
You know that's what the other but it doesn't they're out of context hate machines and there's nothing that I can diabetics have to duke which.
When I said what I just said I was really referring to the way they characterize an on the other side which is that what they said you sent.
Our fans something that Dan rather told me which turned out exactly true and rather told me last year that if you do -- -- on rights and you do it in the way it's true to yourself you feel good that you went pollutants and that's exactly I don't feel.
Congressman appreciate your time tonight in the many times you -- on this program anomaly following know what you're doing.
