There's a spot disliking him I'm Mike -- we're talking about women's mixed martial arts joined now by -- -- And came couture.
First -- ball.
Does this woman have a -- or what.
I now yeah.
-- I was -- -- -- earlier on soundtrack I think that's -- your first flight at Thomas and Mack was an incredible fight and everybody said you showed such great heart.
You fought through broken jaw -- do that.
I think I just blocked it out you know fit -- with the adrenaline it wasn't too painful my only goal is to win and whatever it took to do that I didn't think about it.
We've seen the demise of a few.
And it may -- lead exe.
-- dog which -- was a proponent of women's anime so his lead -- say.
To strike force for WE CU FC are they gonna come up and really take it take to the time where the other -- off.
I've been in talks with strike force obviously American planning on not continuing women's fighting.
I know WCs look and at the Gina.
Might like to see them follow through and not just bring that one fight and but but open the doors for other women to get in there.
What your goal.
Well Michael and fighting is always to be the best but along that journey hopefully I can help you know bring other women into you know into the fold and they'll create women's empire and then me.
Do you know can do you think that there is going to be a women's empire.
I just didn't know -- has long said indeed is not against that we heard somebody earlier not against women's -- however.
He does -- is not enough of you guys out there to create a division do you agree with that.
I don't think he just needs -- you.
Would be told who those names are and I think once he looked into it.
Seems that there is that potential to have a whole league mom I think once they get behind it we get -- -- it's gonna take off from there.
You -- I do agree on I think that that the main problem is exposure I think the women are out there and their training and -- hungry to fight.
He needs to see them and so you know it's it's kind of well if he would do the women's -- if you would do that you know the -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- All of these women are gonna come up -- I -- on here and I think that's what's gonna take for him to realize how many are out there.
Do you think though I mean.
Let's keep this be honest we had the lead -- you don't get much more exposure than being on network TV.
So where were the women -- where they coming out of the -- is as well at that point.
-- I think like she said they've been there they just haven't been on TV.
Even if they're fighting on shows on cards they're not the ones that make the TV segment so I think now.
Once more the women on our watched.
You see the talents and how technically are.
On people are gonna realize there's a lot of girls out there get knocked out power.
I like to think so.
Yeah you get knocked -- power yes.
-- a sexist question.
You know thinks of you ask a 125 -- and -- went there and you know that the men and -- -- -- -- -- those -- you know not to.
You look at any women's boxing you're gonna see knock outs.
In in those -- passes and you know I mean just just watch when it's boxing's not power it's -- with -- But the sexism is not so much I mean asking you guys if you can knock people out isn't.
Don't women in general have an uphill battle in professional sports anyway in his country.
I think it's hard for some people to wrap their brains around around why.
We want to do it you know what's the attraction for us and I think and let you go in an experience it yourself.
You're not gonna get a in on understand that it's it's personal goal and a personal challenge.
And -- makes you feel great so you know as we know it's it's like a runner's high.
And the only way to tell it to figure that out as to go on -- try yourself.
You know I just thought something you train with Greg Jackson's team so you train with Rashad Evans Forrest Griffin trains with the -- could -- team.
You've -- should fight.
You got you the bad.
You know then you know you need to avenge T team -- -- I -- not.
It's funny I I never look at it I mean in the end -- the two athletes.
Bring you what they have to the table and everything like that you -- I -- -- -- -- to -- -- but we have -- vastly different records you know -- -- -- -- -- -- thing -- -- -- -- about -- and and and I mean in terms of like you know -- -- I mean I know.
Overshot holds force in the highest -- he said authors camp how much you respect them.
And I don't know -- personally but I'm sure you know after his that you spent some wonderful things this post -- an interview so.
I don't think there's any kind of attention and in that sense now I'm dumb joke I'm being facetious -- Come reality show what -- a woman's anime reality show help it obviously hope you have sick.
I think -- there's been so many talks especially for us at the -- we get so many calls.
Everybody wants there reality show.
And is in -- it.
The Ultimate Fighter I love the first and second season and after that it just kind of lost some interest there I think that.
Doing more of a documentary style may -- and following these women around and really showing what they go through and how dedicated they are in their training and how intense is just like the man.
On most of us are training with men and upset.
I think that would really intrigued people I -- -- like -- girls -- but it did did you get a job and not just don't like being stuck in the house.
He now for that long but what do you think of the good lifestyle of mixed martial arts know.
Closed for instance -- huge clothing phenomenon with affliction in and fight chicks and warrior where the -- out through tour.
-- -- -- And -- Two is there is there more to the sport then just.
Yes and I think it has the potential to be as big as football and soccer it could be a worldwide sport it could be you know follow your favorite fighter from whatever country.
I mean this is a sport that could take place anywhere so.
I think has that potential.
I think there's definitely -- culture surrounding it -- but like you are saying earlier there's there's a rise in in children's wrestling.
As a direct result of watching the -- season exposure of it.
So I think that day there's always been a culture and I can only really speak for our country that's -- from.
In in combative sports in this country.
And it's only -- grown grown.
Of course you're gonna find T shirts and everything -- advocated that culture so I can see it working hand in hand I mean there -- there's -- fighters and there's people who watched.
It's of course you know there's going to be.
Clothing because of it is going to be you know shoes because -- you know it's.
Its hand in hand it's actually great economic.
-- Strike force.
If you do do -- deal with them what kind of fight do you expect.
-- like to have a rematch with cameras.
Kind of events that -- I think.
It to her you know that was about things can happen in my packer team.
Now there's no ill feelings there.
It's -- sportsmanship but.
I think that.
-- I definitely think there's a good story -- -- And people like people -- tuning in to watch every match -- right.
So but not a lot of people watch that fight not -- lot of -- -- -- and what you said earlier about exposure.
A lot of people lot of anime fans only have only seen two -- three.
Women's fights and that's part of the problem is it.
I think surprisingly enough that fight wasn't on TV has just on the Internet.
And I would like to think that nobody wants to their night shift and -- -- Stater what -- -- in -- people of CNET and I don't even know what the hits are up to but the last much victims like 200000 hits.
How did you get to play -- into I was always involved with martial arts and look for five years old and then actually.
I was over at a friend's house watching you've seen some input in the -- -- she dvd from Jeff Osborne show I thought he said no that's when I need to do and that's just it's.
Started certain my -- asserted unitarian taking right now that's what I meant to do.
And you weren't always a fighter but now you're around fighting all the time married to Randy Couture and you run the extreme couture gym franchise.
When did you say you know what I wanna I wanna jump into the -- to -- obviously you just treating because you were training.
Yeah all my friends before I met Randy we're fighters and I was -- sex on the system.
All the time and that we kind of bounced around -- different places here to Russell in here box and and and when I met Randy you know I still -- -- about fighting I was just there and thinking about the business end of it putting all that together.
But it was when Gina started at the gym.
On should have any girls -- left.
And I'm like well you know on -- same -- and stuff.
On how many get in shape and give you an extra body to work with -- -- of the guys are kind of in self survival mode because they're a lot bigger than you.
And I smaller than her -- -- well you know she can practice on Meehan.
It'll be good for her and I just got addicted to them like this is all I wanna -- now.
What should be reported a fight game as it stand up as it did jujitsu is -- the wrestling what is it.
It's everything I think going into that I thought there than my least favorite was going to be a wrestling and of course my husband as my coach and and didn't know how that dynamic would work out and it has just been so much fun I mean he pushed me really hard in the beginning and it takes a while before it clicks and now I just -- -- you know since you brought it up.
Pushing you hard a lot of -- got to you got some criticism.
Especially on the blogs -- the -- always criticize everybody.
About that by you had with with rose and that he should've stopped it -- thought that was ridiculous.
He asked me -- -- come back to the corner are you okay I'm like I'm fine he knows me very well I -- killed in a few what does it.
You know I was fine I'm not -- -- and women and I'm not gonna push myself into a position where I'm endangered possibly never fight again.
You know hit it sound like a big deal -- most people that is just my job I was fine and I was actually trying to keep from bleeding so much because I knew it would turn the judges off but.
I was okay and I was still taking her down and I was still controlling her and she couldn't do anything when I take -- down so I wasn't laying on the ground taken you know.
Fifty hits to my head I was fine.
-- been really -- things.
Not in -- fight now I think I -- my nose broken -- terrified.
When you train with men do you find that they take it easy and you guys.
I think yes and no.
They expect a different thing from you and especially the men that I train because you know the highest caliber athletes out there -- -- fighters out there and so they expect me they're very good about working my potential that I'm 135 pound woman.
So they're not gonna hit me the same way they're gonna -- had 85 pound man so you know there there's a different level and stuff like that -- They expect immediate step reform and if I don't you know don't hit me.
All right final words on women's mixed martial arts does it have a future can couture.
And think as soon as we get the right people behind us it's gonna take off.
To -- yes I absolutely believe that women's enemy I think it's the future I think that there's going to be.
So much coming from and I think it's gonna get the attention I think it's probably into the spotlight away from metal -- the future.
Right that's it for fight game this is Mike Straka along with Kim couture Julie -- Women's mixed martial arts stars until next time -- fights.
