Congressman Dennis Kucinich Democrat of Ohio.
Once and future where a candidate for the democratic nomination for the presidency congressman Kucinich it's always a pleasure welcome back to Brian and -- And hello from very rainy Washington.
I guess the rates come -- -- we appreciate you taking the time to challenge us representative Kucinich look how do you view.
Barack Obama's budget what do you like what has to go.
On you know my my concern.
Is much broader in the budget we're you know we're we're making their continued commitment to Afghanistan.
Which could rapidly become.
President Obama's Vietnam.
And we are continuing a war and I well the president has made a commitment totally.
There are still a tremendous amount of money in at budget for the war at a time when we really a problem here -- we should be spending a resource.
I haven't actually cut the defense budget or that I misread that they did.
Well -- date what they've done is station is two put the cost of the war into the budget.
I was amazed saying that they cut the rate of growth.
There is still a lot of -- that budget and and I think that the basic defense in the country's very important.
We we need to make sure that we have you know enough soldiers and sailors and people from the air force and the Marines and Coast Guard but I'm concerned you know we're still into these.
-- hyperactive systems that you really -- employment intention buried their capital intensive.
And I don't think that the debt that -- international policies that we haven't really.
-- respect them enough the contribution to our service people couldn't put them at risk in areas that just it made no sense.
-- -- going to focus in the international.
Element of -- you know Afghanistan it's hard to imagine a good thing we could -- be more dangerous to let al-Qaeda run rampant in Afghanistan.
The the idea that somehow we're going to control Afghanistan is mitnick.
Did the British couldn't do -- the Russians couldn't do it.
And we're not doing it right now and we're just gonna have more men out there and women out there to be shot it.
So I didn't excuse -- I I really have severe misgivings about.
Continuing in Afghanistan as well yes the budget but did you know why have.
We do that domestic needs that the budget will seek to make.
I have some serious problems without spending money on media.
I'm on both foreign operations and on.
And on war.
And so you know I -- a recent decision on it but I that I'm concerned that we're not doing enough to get the economy going.
That -- government spending is cumulative.
We can rebuild America we need to look to Roosevelt new deal we actually rebuild America could -- to japs we need to do that we haven't done yet.
And I'm very concerned that this economy.
Is only about Wall Street is that about me just.
