Aren't the man who'll become the Republicans all important 41 vote in the US senate arrived in our nation's capital earlier today.
And that as our headline this Thursday night mr.
brown goes to Washington.
Now Massachusetts senator elect -- brown had a full schedule on Capitol Hill today meeting first with Arizona Senator John McCain in his office.
I'm honored -- Senator McCain as you now know is one of the first people to.
He looked me in the eye in this very office and save us a long shot put we view if you feel you can win and I want to pay him the first visit and thank -- for that support.
And later senator elect -- met with senate minority leader Mitch McConnell as well as his Massachusetts colleague Senator John Kerry.
And even the majority leader Harry Reid found enough time on his busy schedule to leave his.
Smoky but a back room behind those closed doors that we've all grown so accustomed to in order to greet.
The senator elect let's take a look.
-- I have an interest -- time this year.
You're going to.
Into the -- time when the country's in deep trouble.
A lot when your campaign is about the forward looking.
Are you can really feel the love and that ruled.
So it -- without a super majority Prince Harry has to accept the fact that his health care bill is dead -- Brown's overwhelming victory Tuesday impacts much more.
Then just -- debate over health care here in America that his victory marks the beginning of the great repudiation of the Obama agenda in particular.
On the president's approach to fighting terror joining me now with reaction.
Is a man who knows full well how to shake things up in Washington he -- the former speaker of the house Newt Gingrich who joins us -- -- -- gonna say thanks for being with us and you -- if you -- before -- anything I'm -- a promised -- woman -- my radio show today I would I don't know I made a promise.
I know you know about this.
And she said I have to ask you are you running for president.
In the next election cycle.
-- farmers -- I'm sure area as I'm sure you told it was -- this New York.
-- and I'll decide probably in February of next year.
And if there is a national movement for real change and -- Real effort across the country not just at the White House but it congress state legislature county commissioner.
Across the -- we're trying to do at American solutions which is reach out to all 513.
Thousand elect thousands.
We certainly -- considered very seriously and obviously we do I would loved to have her help.
Your assessment of Tuesday night.
Well it was a stunning victory first of -- I think an awful lot of credit goes to Scott Brown.
He had the courage to run for years in the minority.
In the Massachusetts legislature must have been very frustrating.
He had the courage to run for the US senate seat of Teddy Kennedy's at a time and a must have seen almost hopeless.
He had the courage to run a positive campaign and to stay positive.
All that came together on Tuesday in a way that was almost magical was America at its very best.
The American people rising up and saying to the power structure.
We want real change we're not gonna take it anymore and here's our first signal -- -- 31.
Percentage point swing.
From the Obama 26 point win last year.
Two Scott's five point win this year this is a seat last held by Republican won in 1946.
By Henry Cabot Lodge -- -- you're looking at 44 years of one party occupation that seat.
And it's a great victory.
I actually agree with what you said a while ago I suspect it's the beginning.
Although you could argue that New Jersey and Virginia were also part of it -- back in November of the repudiation of the Obama Pelosi Reid machine.
The things they've been trying to do.
-- the first inclination though the president and his aides has spent two to lash out and and even go back to the -- the same you know would strategy book that got him elected and blame George W.
I'm I'm not sure -- If there's still remain tone -- here.
But it do you see any inclination -- this president.
To modify the agenda to listen to the American people too old to the -- -- to the right.
Or is he too much of an ideologue.
I think I don't think we'll know until the next few weeks and his state of the union and some other things that.
Nothing so far has been very encouraging and I think partly because they're so entrenched in their own.
Arrogance and their own sense of power in their own hubris.
That they're not getting the messages you know this is not just about.
Scott Brown in Massachusetts.
It's also about Steve Chabot in Cincinnati -- up seventeen points.
It's about former congressman -- revenues up seven points in Michigan.
It's it's about the fact that Indian net.
Arkansas the Democrat Vic Snyder was down seventeen points behind Tim Griffin and has now dropped out of the race.
Everywhere you look around the country you see Democrats in increasing trouble and frankly with the unemployment numbers this morning.
The American people -- gonna want to know why is the president refusing.
To slow down focus on the economy.
Work with the Republicans.
And try to get something positive done for America as opposed to having an ideological left wing agenda.
It's it's a great question I mean Nancy Pelosi says at least for the time being that health -- is dead and in the house but on the other hand.
He got Dick -- floating the idea and other Democrats floating the idea that they will bypass the the normal process.
And move towards reconciliation.
Has to force this bill through.
If they don't number my -- my predicted they cannot pass.
Bill through the House of Representatives the American people.
Will be so enraged.
By some kind of a cheap political act by somebody like Durbin who's a democratic whip.
I think the reaction of the country will be so angry that that bill would never get through the house well.
I I would tend to agree with you we'll have to wait and see what happens and if they try that I think that'll be evidence that they are completely tone deaf to what's happened.
You mention the unemployment numbers we also have congress now looking to raise the debt ceiling up by another one point nine.
Trillion dollars at -- at this particular point.
Wall Street Journal had an interest -- PC and they gonna have this so called bipartisan commission.
And -- and examined the dead in the deficits and and that you can move towards fiscal responsibility.
But -- other hand they feel to trap for Republicans to buy into what tax increase he that Republicans will get sucked into that.
Well in my head -- I refused to support the idea of -- commission because I think it will lead to a tax increase proposal.
The problem we have is not there -- taxed too much to probably have as -- government is spending too much I'd be glad to support a commission that looked only at spending.
But I would actively oppose any commission.
Which has involved in it a tax increase because you know how Washington works they're gonna want the money -- what -- -- a liberal tell me either way but the deficit.
I know they mean they wanna raise taxes I never hear a liberal tell me the -- about the deficit and that means they want to cut spending.
Last last question as you look at near crystal ball we saw what happened in Virginia we saw what happened in New Jersey now we saw what happened in Massachusetts.
Let's let's sudden jump into.
The crystal ball look into November.
Can the Republicans take back the house that have a shot at how many seats in the Senate your thoughts.
While right now I think they have as of as many as plus seven in the Senate that would -- in three short of organizing since the Democrats -- the vice president.
But I think it's pretty clear -- -- to get to plus seven.
In the house think the odds are now even money that John Boehner is the next speaker of the house.
-- what the Republicans have to do is recruit candidates everywhere remember they just won a state.
In which there was a 31 point swing.
If you take that standard applied across the country there are probably a 150 democratic seats at risk.
And November of this year -- mr.
speaker always good to see it thanks -- -- illustration.
