The massive relief operation continues and we're told the US military is now in charge at port of prince airport at long last.
Literally tons of food and water supplies arriving at the airport.
But getting it all into the hands of people needed is that completely different story The Fox Report chief correspondent Jon Huntsman today on the streets of the capital.
In these live on a blistering hot day today Jonathan update us.
Check the -- release -- that you talk about is on the way but I can tell you this -- -- not getting.
To the -- majority of people eighties that played.
That simple we spent many analysts today again one of the poor areas of death and -- Lou and that the people have been left to fend for themselves almost completely and Utley.
Bodies are all over the streets that many of them just covered in rugs and blankets that feet sticking at the bottom a final indignity in -- it is -- desperately.
All full scene to witness the stench of death is I can only describe it -- as absolutely disgusting.
And the rescue efforts that -- focusing on places like the hotel Montana on the collapsed UN buildings on not getting to the poor Haitian people.
I can tell you that we would that today we sold one that rescue team it was comprised of three but rescue personnel from Cancun Mexico.
No heavy machinery no dogs nothing that lead man in that team was pouring over some rubble climbing up.
To the cult of the top of a collapsed -- he told he had heard a voice a couple of that was it he was crying still to try -- -- -- Hear that voice appealing for silence -- we went up that.
He then thought he may have -- something again he -- all of us everybody who was that to pick up any piece of rubble to pick up any.
-- that we could carry just to take it away that was no but -- from that voice a couple of hours leadership and but that is the extent of the rescue operation there appears to be.
No great coordination there appears to be no great presence of heavy machinery that kind of machinery that is desperately needed so -- you see these -- of hope from places like the hotel Montana it is a tale of absolute dates back in the house majority opponent prince today ship.
Is there a plan for distribution what we keep seeing jobs -- -- and tell -- you run across this.
The wide open spaces the parks and and that sort of thing green space -- cross border prints.
It would appear that people are making these camp sites there.
So they have a place with some some a TARP over the head if nothing else.
Is there a plan to get food and water to those places that are turning into basically refugee camps in the middle of their own country.
And they are desperate refugee camp -- I.
Absolutely desperate people crammed into the smallest space just trying to find shelter from this blistering ninety degree some.
Under whatever tops they can get -- -- over themselves and eight -- all I can tell you is from my experience on the streets that doesn't appear to be a plant.
Never -- a plan this certainly is nobody -- giving aid to most of these people.
Then not getting more to that I can see they're not getting food that I can see that not getting medical supplies there is one medical tent set up for instance.
Down in the port itself there -- hundreds of injured people that seeking help.
Direct to doctors and two nurses that is the extent of the operation that.
And that kind of scene is repeated everywhere here we are in the main plaza today outside the presidential scholarship and this was if -- like a microcosm.
Of what has happened to -- on the left hand side as we stood back with the presidential palace the seat of government.
Luckily collapsed rubble nothing more than that it was a microcosm of the government -- multiple.
For the government itself across the street to the right was one of those tent encampments the people themselves.
They come to the presidential palace outside it because they thought that might be the best place to find -- hope they found nothing.
But dispatch and now there are hundreds if not thousands and thousands of them -- to cross from what -- as the seat of government there is no government to help them.
And it doesn't look right now from my -- -- -- and I have I have to say that this is only my experience.
But that does not appear to be any coordinated.
Effort to get things that that the US military is arriving.
In some force they all doing well they can.
But that needs to be so much more and it needs to come so much more quickly -- will we told we talked about this yesterday the desperation that -- that but a relative -- it's changing on the streets today if there is definitely we we have definitely reaching a tipping point I said this morning on FOX & Friends I believe there is 24 hours for the they -- relief effort to get a grip on this if it -- any more than that we've seen what -- he is capable.
In terms of violence in the -- of 2000 people the food riots of 2008.
It is very.
Very likely I would say at this stage that we will slip towards that violence if these people.
Don't get help and done and get it -- Very soon I also -- -- point that -- the from a -- point here the hotel Montana that the used to be was standing right behind me that.
We heard the first gunshots that we have today they have -- not -- more of those but that was -- all -- -- warning of what may be to come if the relief effort does not.
Yet get a -- here.
And get some help to these desperately.
Desperately pull people they have very little to begin with -- they have absolutely nothing now.
Well we we we know that some of the supplies are getting in there we know that there have been tons of stuff brought to the airport.
Have you been given any sort of idea from anybody -- maybe.
Is in charge at the airport or anywhere else.
-- how they in this new video from the it will by the way from the department defense they're now sending out their own video and and you know job you know why they do this they do this show as we are doing what we can't.
And you know it's obvious to do -- -- -- journalist -- -- -- with with the with the people who were going into give relief we'll talk or although in the minute he's flying into.
The 82 airborne they're flying reporters in with -- every kind of American is trying to do anything and who in the world to say anything but thank you thank you thank you that said.
It's not there yet.
And that's I'm not blaming anybody -- negative about it and I -- -- -- just saying the reality is people are starving and Thursday.
Isn't your sensitive that that that hasn't changed by the weakened there's real trouble ahead.
Yet there is absolutely real trouble ahead if it doesn't -- -- and yes the effort is that in terms of getting old the equipment that is needed all the food that is needed all the water that is needed all the medical supplies -- -- needed.
To the apple the Americans are in charge of that operation is running as well as it possibly can.
Given the condition of the apple given that the limits of space than the limits apparently -- you can get -- that what he's not happening probably what does not appear to me at the moment at least.
To be coordinated is getting all that -- out into the streets and yes.
Every nation that we have spoken -- is very very fearful that if that A does not get that to those people.
Very soon and I'm talking less than 24 hours now we -- absolute maximum 48.
Then certainly there is going to be violence on the streets you have seen already.
Some gangs marauding but those are isolated I have to say and I you have to also pay tribute to the dignity of the Haitian people.
How they dealt with this so far but that dignity that -- this has a sell by date it will expire very very soon they have to get the -- at -- --
