And think -- what can I finish my point -- primary here for immunizations.
And I think that.
From angry Americans giving democratic lawmakers an earful at town hall meetings across the country they are worked up over health care reform.
Our next guest says this is not helping the Republicans.
And could wind up helping.
Health care reform.
-- -- Radio talk show host bill press a former chairman of the California Democratic Party is my guess now hi -- I Megyn how you do both fun and great thanks thanks for being back on the program so explain.
-- be here.
Well off I -- -- if I were -- a member of democratic congressman or senator having a town hall meeting I would pay these guys to show up because they think they showed very ugly side of America not necessarily the Republican Party I don't know who they stand for.
But I think they're ugly they're disrupted this is a serious issue.
And I think what's gonna happen in August is going to decide this issue but I think the Americans want.
They just don't want mob rule and I think that's what we're seeing an look it's obviously orchestrated.
We've seen it in Philadelphia New Castle, Delaware Austin Texas I don't know who they are but I don't think they're doing the Republican Party any good.
-- no question that some of these are organized there there are some groups that are organizing yeah trying to encourage their members to go to these.
On both sides I wanna point out of both Democrats and Republicans but there's also no question that some of these folks are standalone individuals who -- show up.
And try to voice their opinion and some of that bill -- not so much ugly.
As angry they're just angry they're upset they're worried you know that woman who cross examine Specter yesterday saying -- -- a government that hitting -- -- cash for clunkers program run.
You know a program is gonna were all revised one it was seven that our national economy and make the point that eat -- -- -- what your background the point is is taken as legitimate by a lot of.
-- that is a legitimate question I've asked that question myself -- my miracle on my own radio show.
But she's different from the people in the back room -- -- gorgeous shouting everybody down not I think guided by the speak not letting anybody finish -- sentence the woman is holding the Bible opposite that has anything to do.
With -- -- -- -- all I'm saying Megan is this is the time I think.
Americans really want to debate this health care reform.
And also these people were there to protest what a -- for war.
You know therefore what the status well they have there's no other plan.
That they put on the table the Republicans have put -- the plan on the table so they're just against anything or for the status quo -- -- Americans except as unacceptable.
That's not necessarily true bill because the latest Rasmussen Reports polling shows that 48% of -- now.
Rate -- US health care system as good or excellent and while 47% favor health care reform.
Are opposed the majority -- -- more -- -- are opposed to health care reform and I think.
That's what we're seeing at these at these town hall meetings.
-- at the agency -- -- really I think you're dissing people -- anti anything the government has anything to do it -- Nagin the status quo means for everybody.
Insurance companies can still drop you if you get sick they can still deny.
You coverage if you have a pre existing edition.
And they -- and cost are still gonna go up of the planet 80% of Republicans are in Fredricka their coverage is good or excellent 80% of people haven't you don't like lot of you know why because they're lucky because they haven't gotten sick.
And once they do get sick they're going to be in trouble and they're gonna -- there -- millions of stories like that at their 47 million Americans.
Who don't have any health insurance whatsoever and take the status both unacceptable and I think these fringe protesters are not doing their cause.
Any good I don't know if -- And call them -- -- though because the numbers -- one thing at the polls were heavily in in favor of the president and healthcare reform.
But they're just not an end do you make room for the possibility that these people vocal -- they may be.
May be giving voice to a concern that the silent mass is also have which is.
I I'm afraid to tell anybody by actually kind of like my health care insurance and I don't want anybody messing with it.
All I'm saying is make -- Look again healthy debate on this issue is what we need in August right that's what I hope we're gonna -- this is not healthy debate.
There are legitimate points to be made their legitimate questions to be asked.
About a public -- Or about -- you're gonna pay for this about who's gonna cover and does not these people are not asking those questions they are just out there to just drop.
And to deny any legitimate debate that's not the American way I think they're turning people off now you.
I think Republicans on the stand up and say you know what guys.
Come and participate in discussion ask all your questions otherwise if you're just gonna bill and shouts stay home when you're Democrat should offer the same message to the Service Employees International Union which has showed up -- these things chanting yes we can.
To the physicians for Obama who brought an audience members and that did the same thing.
Other fringe groups that it showed up -- are rallying to be the same thing on the other side are fair fair I.
My messages across the board may go but I defy you to show me anybody on the left to its common disrupted these meetings and let people speak they make a point they let people speak though.
You watch tomorrow bill press thanks for being -- thoughts are they get -- -- got from Connecticut argued for single Payer of course I mean it you know.
Bill apparently does not watch America's Newsroom every day which I'm going to take applicant that segment that -- -- Pressler Bob.
