Armed with any of that.
I have a very very special guest this morning someone who I would love call for an whole role that Rivera everybody -- -- out in Fort Campbell Kentucky with our troops.
And I let him tell your wife apparently -- by Osama FOX & Friends this morning that I too.
One a little bit of that joy and happiness from overall though it might show good morning.
I Harris and I definitely for an.
Album I caught a Jersey doesn't smell and keeping you don't you.
How about the rhetoric that fabulous -- and I -- this morning with some are fabulous Iraq leadership.
What's not out of Fort Campbell that.
You know the war Harris has gone up for so long it started you know in September of 01 now it's you know eight years later.
That troops have endured so much their -- that sacrificed so much big the upside though is that.
-- you know over that time as a war correspondent for Fox News you know I've I've.
Formed some amazing relationships them some real bonds real fraternal bonds real friends.
Seen some of these America's greatest warriors.
You know fighting.
For us in Afghanistan and Iraq and one of those fellows.
That we met early on and tracked his career from colonel to brigadier general to major general.
Is now today major general John F Campbell assuming command of the legendary screaming Eagles that is in the 101 airborne.
And I'm here at their home in now Fort Campbell Kentucky.
You know near the at Tennessee border -- to watch our our -- Assumed command of this.
This unit they were you know they were there at the beaches of Normandy they -- they are in the battle of the bulge Vietnam.
And they were there for the surge in Iraq and now you know they've just some of the units of its comeback for Afghanistan that a guy back there.
You know just to see him ascend to that command the command incidentally.
Held at one time by then major General David Petraeus before got a third start was struck and it's a great thing to be with general Campbell and his family.
And to see him assume command of one of the greatest fighting units ever assembled than any army ever in the history of the world that.
Paris you know overall I'm curious I grew up military I got tired of lieutenant colonel who's a fighter.
And throughout the years I've watched you.
And you know I'm a huge fan of yours to magnificent reporting and as you kind of Foster those relationships are talking about with military personnel.
I've watched that process and gave me such joy to see this morning I'm so glad you're joining us on strategy room.
I you know I'm wondering if our troops are feeling it in maybe would have gotten this from your friend.
The general -- our troops are still feeling supported Iraq what more that we need to do to make sure that we keep them.
For fraud and and make sure that they feel supported.
I think it's great question I think to answer that two levels one level is what can we in the news business news you know.
It was a time we covered Iraq and Afghanistan on a nightly or a daily basis hourly basis.
Then we drifted away and stories.
Like Anna Nicole Smith and Michael Jackson and others have you know kind of captured the front pages people's interest.
Now -- everything going on the new administration health care initiative this so much else going on I think that we professionals have to make sure that we.
Continually remind ourselves and our audience.
That these people are sacrificing so much amendment.
In uniform sacrificing so much for us.
On the other level and I think this is much more.
Applicable to everybody who's watching.
One thing I have seen covering wars since 1970 to 1973 when I've seen is.
We've had that quantum shift in the way Americans feel about our military.
Back in the seventies the military were school warned they were the objects of failed foreign policy.
They were ridiculed they were treated in a very shabby way many of their lives wrecked by the reception.
That they got when they return to the United States from Laos and Cambodia and Vietnam.
What has happened now though Harris and I know that you know this -- -- -- constant pressure on yourself.
When they can they came home this time when they're coming on this time that the new rock stars -- -- walk through an airport or write a high five and them.
This bump in hugging them taking pictures with them you know there are tired and everyone's brother and sister.
Son and -- it's much much different by then they feel it to these kids.
You know we forget their.
Years old a lot of these GI's and they they going away were they've budgets come back from twelve months at least the way from their balance.
That's what they need they need the good -- they need to know that there are appreciated that's more important.
And anything else and and to be here today that this unit and just let everybody know every private -- to take a picture.
That's code may on this he would let them know that we care about them.
It's so fantastic I love which he said at the beginning of your comments by the way thank you for calling me -- consummate professional innately -- You know it's so true of the media -- this was front page for so long.
The two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
And that it's not -- -- backstage but this new president with all of these sort of rushing through initiatives I think -- caught.
It's kind of caught everybody off guard led no matter how you feel about the issues that seems to be moving so quickly.
You know it it does -- him to take your focus off of what's happening with our troops.
And they are protecting our freedoms I look at how much red white -- blue is behind you and I wonder why we do any other store connect.
I really do.
That's a fact I've that the great question.
But this -- something happening here that doesn't usually happen in the chains of command again at virtually the entire 101.
Air assault division will be marching by in her view.
I mean that this is like the the the old days you know.
VE day or BJ day.
Armistice day that you receive the entire.
Fighting -- so excited I'm really I'm totally psyched to be here to see these guys.
You know thousands of them strong combined -- the the platoon commander will say.
Eyes right now all salute the incoming in the deporting major general that the forced oral -- here the that the general of the of the troops whose -- presiding.
The families it's going to be one of those thrilling thrilling moments and you know.
I I enjoy a and I am proud very proud you know sometimes our network gets criticized.
By people have and and a certain ideological bent.
But all I can say is I -- I speak with tremendous pride when I see the vibe that I get from these young GI's and they they say to me.
-- of Fox News fox business school and I'm I don't -- stroke -- -- there is as simply out of relationship we love them.
We honor their service and they they do so much for -- and to be here for me this is like this is my.
Paul McCartney concert so to speak if that's my.
You know great event.
If it can't it doesn't get any better than much in the 101.
Airborne screaming Eagles.
Air assault marched by in review Harris.
Often and I love to a military bases a lot of civilians don't know that that music is just rocket.
They've never argument Paul McCartney concert -- seriously when everything's going all the pomp and circumstance always includes.
Great music hey you know what.
Red light blue today it will -- it with -- Great congratulations to your friends gathered in general.
Campbell which I I caught this morning -- that -- -- the laughing at the same thing at Fort Campbell Kentucky.
If you get paid and the fourth star presiding is also Campbell I.
