Well I'm human -- maybe the -- the land but that has not stopped some Americans angry over the passage from voicing their dismay.
With their lawmakers democratic congressman -- -- -- held a town hall meeting yesterday in Pennsylvania.
He wanted to fix -- the bill to his constituents.
He got an earful from them.
I'm an American.
And I love our constitution.
And one thing the founding fathers worried about more than anything else was too much government control on our lives.
If we accept this latest legislation.
We might as well throw our constitution in the trash.
And -- Americans feel that way things go right ahead because that's where we're headed.
-- -- -- -- Jean Schmidt is a Republican from Ohio and she's my guess now she voted.
Against this health care now law -- -- -- thanks so much for being here you know that's the question we have seen a number of government programs beginning with President Bush.
And now into the Obama administration or government seems to be taking over a little bit more a little bit more a little bit more.
Are we now -- the point where it's unprecedented.
Well I'm not sure whether we're at the point where it's unprecedented but it's certainly direction -- our framers of our constitution didn't want -- to go.
And -- many Americans are frightened that we are going.
You know eight.
Looking back -- so in this country was in trouble back in World War II we had record government spending in involvement in our lives.
And people put up with that because we were you know was a time of war.
Right now we're obviously involved in two wars and our economy is also you know you could argue that that's of war like battle of its own.
Is that a justification for the for -- for the government involvement we've seen.
Well I did two different -- that was World War II where you had in the international war on an international stage.
What we're dealing with their conflicts in the Middle East -- you you really can't compare -- -- But what you can look at -- the domestic policies that this administration.
He's -- -- forward and those are very similar to the domestic policies.
-- would put forward under the Roosevelt administration.
If you read amity shales book the forgotten man you'll see that they didn't work then and they're not working now.
You know what we've heard first we have the TARP -- the -- of the banks that was under President Bush in -- 700 plus billion dollars.
And we were told we had to do that for Wall Street otherwise would hurt main street then President Obama took office and we -- the 787.
Billion dollar stimulus plan saying we've got to do it to help the economy.
Then GM and and -- almost failed in the government stepped in -- saying they're too big to fail we can't lose those dot.
When they keep telling us whether it's President Bush a President Obama.
Too big to fail if we don't stepping and it's gonna be complete disaster unemployment -- be even worse and that's a lot of Americans and and that you know the majorities on Capitol Hill seemed to agree that something needs to be done.
You know what what is your belief that we should have just sat back and let the banks fail and let GM fail -- you know let it let health -- go on touched.
We -- there's a delicate balance.
Between when government should get involved in winning shouldn't.
-- -- in necessary in the beginning.
Two on two.
Involving frozen markets but what is happened is an over extension of -- into.
Places where it shouldn't have been the banks that received the money.
Are paying it back that money should have gone back to the treasury but what this administration and this congress is doing is spending -- on new ideas in new programs.
And that's with scaring Americans as far as the stimulus.
That money didn't really produce any jobs we have unemployment almost -- at 10% in this country it's chronic unemployment and what we're seeing his record debt.
Being built in our country to the point that we may not be able to pay it off.
And enjoy the kind of like stay -- style than Americans enjoy today the government in our business you know as it is in some areas now is there -- getting it out.
Sure there is -- mean if you look at what happened in the aftermath of world war -- We got the active doing what the framers wanted us to deal allowing small businesses -- to put Norris.
To build the wealth in this country and -- what needs to be done now we need to let government get out of the way and let our small businesses.
Do what they wanted to invest in America bill jobs.
And and build our economy up but right now there they are afraid of what god this government in Washington is gonna do.
They're sitting on their hands and we're seeing unemployment -- are kind of punishment that -- -- -- okay on the threat front -- hopefully that's died down for you.
It has died down thankfully you know I hopefully that was just an angry caller -- unfortunately.
Both sides of the -- get those kind of calls not not very often but but often enough.
And we just have to always have a watchful -- wherever we go -- it's like to see that on either Saturday I'll teach that thanks so much for being here.
Thank you god bless you what we.
