I was big news tonight for Arizona Arizona just hit a home run his battle to fight illegal immigration.

The Supreme Court of the United States upheld an Arizona law today that imposes harsh penalties on businesses.

That hire illegal immigrants and guess what.

This particular law was actually signed into law not by governor Jan Brewer but by then governor -- and the popped her well.

Yes our current secretary of Homeland Security so -- -- -- a good -- for governor brewer's controversial SB 1070 Arizona governor Jim -- joins us.

Good evening governor and down.

Reading the tea leaves -- -- read on this sad that this decision of the Supreme Court as a relates to SP 107.

Well it's pretty clear that the Supreme Court ruled today that states do.

Play a critical role in the illegal immigration felt.

I think -- a a signal that is going to be very helpful going forward in regards to.

-- senate bill 1070 that hopefully going to and up in the Supreme Court only when that also.

Well what the Supreme Court said today and it seemed actually sort of the decision -- made sort of along ideological lines and people with their conservative vs liberal.

It's said that essentially that the federal law.

Is it did determines immigration illegal immigration.

But that the Arizona law fits squarely within -- they didn't in any way not inconsistent with the federal law is that essentially how you understand it.

Absolutely and that's way our lawyers here in Arizona.

You know explained it to me and now we -- Very police but with that ruling and we believe.

Our whole heartedly that now weekend.

Absolutely take down that help wanted -- for illegal aliens in Arizona.

And move forward that -- one more step in fighting the fight that we're fighting here.

That -- -- -- should think about this doesn't the United States have brought the case but the chamber of commerce they're trying to protect business from having to.

Comply with the laws that Arizona's passing on businesses to check whether people illegal or not.

But the other fascinating issue is that the secretary of Homeland Security used to be the governor of your state she's the one -- signed this bill.

That that is correct as she did sign the bill and we're grateful that she signed the bill.

And now we are.

-- Continue to be grateful they decide the bill I don't know it YE ST I don't not I don't really understand -- motivation for it.

I didn't ABC felt that he wasn't going to pass muster but -- Today at Arizona one and we thank -- Paula -- for that.

Certainly.

You know when I went back to DC to the Supreme Court.

I was that you know her name was changed for the defendant to my need.

And so I showed up -- on -- the dialogue and the testimony and the presentation and we did a fantastic job.

And I believe it will keep that up -- that this is just another.

-- step in AM.

A momentum that Arizona is leading the country and.

Did -- -- -- taking about tonight that this that the law that she signed it is -- it was upheld by the Supreme Court authority -- and awkward situation because the next round the session the federal government challenging you on SB 1070 so.

It seems rather awkward although there their differences between the two cases.

Oh absolutely there are differences.

But you know I can't get into her head to.

To know what she's thinking they're.

-- that but Dover Greg -- decide the bill we're grateful we won tonight and not the momentum is going in Arizona's direction so.

We are just gonna keep plowing ahead we're not gonna give up Greta.

-- assessed by the wave your border is it have to get more security down there are not.

-- we do not.

-- and we are in in a quandary here we don't know we have.

A National Guard coming.

-- we have National Guard going.

Something has got to be out resolved between us and the federal government when President Obama was down and out bats well.

He -- -- indicated that he was keeping the National Guard there as they we're.

Taking them out but does for my understanding that they are still removing National Guard from our border.

You know I was governor Perry this week and he was just in the low bit nose out of joint because.

The president dead didn't receive -- be that they didn't talk when he was in Texas the president didn't that they didn't -- on the border together.

How about you did you want the president I assume you wanted to stop in Arizona.

Well I've invited him on numerous occasions I certainly -- like -- to commute to the border I find it.

Just unbelievable that he does he dusty everybody everybody but the governor's.

Senator got Brett -- governor Perry and myself we have.

Huge issues we -- huge problems.

And now he doesn't.

Communicate with us is the lack of communication.

And it's unfair and it's wrong.

And the question and a -- tell us have been back over has -- been back home.

-- you sitting call me if I don't I have no idea he's -- you're not.

-- see what happens when the case gets an -- Supreme Court SP ten semi which the government is a party to -- they were not it part of this but the chamber of congress against you but governor thank you very much for joining us.

Thank you --
