Welcome back to Hannity former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney officially announced his candidacy for president earlier today and I sat down with him in New Hampshire for this interview and here is our final installment.
You said that the president and we you just mentioned I wanna get back to this through Israel under the bus when he said.
That Israel should go back to 67 borders and then he sort of backed off from -- explain what you meant when when you're saying that.
Well I think it's pretty clear that when Bibi Netanyahu got here that something very dramatic it happened.
And that is that the president by insisting on the 67 borders.
Laid out what a bargaining position might be that perhaps the Israelis ought to take the lead -- not not America you don't tell your ally.
How you would -- settling a dispute between them and that and another of people.
You you stand by your ally you link arms with your ally Israel is one of our best allies Middle -- the best ally in the Middle East we don't.
Dictate.
To what to Israel what the terms of their agreement might be -- and it's also been very clear in the past the -- has said look.
We can't possibly have negotiations and less the result of all this will be the Palestinians.
And other nations around the -- the when and what what a peace agreement is reached that there's peace.
That Israel has the right to exist as a Jewish state and that's something which Hamas and and of course the the Palestinian Authority continued to it refused to -- to -- -- -- won't -- amazes me with the Palestinians in the unity agreement now with the Hamas hamas' charter calls not only for the destruction of Israel.
But also for the destruction of Jews to really calling for modern day holocaust.
And for the president to even suggest that you didn't mention that it's gotta be addressed but this suggests that they should even.
Negotiate anyway until -- one issue is resolved would would the United States of America.
Ever sit down with a group of people whose charter call for our destruction and the destruction of our people.
We don't negotiate with terrorists.
And the president was suggesting that Israel should negotiate with terrorists.
And that's why it.
People like myself believe that he through Israel out of us the right course is dealing with allies.
Is it is still lock arms with -- make sure there's not a dime's worth the distance between them in public not to get an issue.
But Bibi Netanyahu that -- -- -- private and hammered out but then come out whole arms together and say we're together because ultimately if you don't do that.
Then then the foes.
Of America or our allies around the world they take courage from what they think it's -- it's a split between us and the overall get a better deal they try to play one off against the other.
And that's what's happening here you're not seeing progress in Middle East peace talks.
In part because of president.
Has not made it clear to Israel that we stand it firmly and squarely behind you really don't have to the president on the issue apologizing for America.
To what extent do you think that hurts our position in the world.
Well I think the that the president's posture from the very beginning.
Was one of saying look all the people the world have the common interests that that we all share.
And if we -- just sit down together and and understand each other better and and and meet with the president and so forth he he suggested is gonna meet with all the world's worst leaders -- -- and including -- -- -- -- -- I disagree -- -- -- -- I don't think everybody in the world has the same interest I think there are some people in the world.
Who seek to oppress and pillage of the people.
And and I think America has to show that we reject those people and that we are strong in defending our.
Principles and -- I won't want to back to the economy for 12 because.
How many years as you look at these deficits and you look at the debt ceiling battle is going on Washington.
And for example Paul Ryan is talking about cutting six point two trillion dollars over a period of time reforming Medicare Social Security.
How if you become president realistically.
How we -- balance the budget how long it's gonna take and how do you deal with entitlements.
Which seems you know.
It will always told us that third rail of American politics don't touch of how how would you do with us and other.
Three parts of government spending one is the discretionary accounts and those had to be pulled back dramatically.
Number two was the military lot of -- to the military.
But I'm not gonna take that waste and use it to to fund more social programs I had to take that waste and rebuild the modern navy.
And a modern air force and have more boots that were able to put on the ground so we're not gonna cut our military spending.
Then comes if you will all the entitlements Medicaid.
Give it back to the states dramatically reduce its copy of the fact get back to the states a lot of what is being done -- Washington.
Can be done for less cost and with less fraud by giving it back that's that you like the Ryan plan and I would do and how you do -- -- I don't know anybody else look at Muhammad got right plant it's not my plan got my plane collided with the right plan but his is a great start his objectives makes sense he wants -- more choice for the American people.
That's good so I I like those feature what what do you -- when they are going to be -- -- over the over the cliff you know where you live with demagoguery I think the American people recognize.
That the time for truth is here and the time for kicking the can down that down the road is god.
And I think if the president sticks to his a demagoguery on this issue.
That ultimately the American people are gonna say we've had enough of that we got to be honest people recognize we can't keep going like we're going.
That the that the debt that we're putting in place is crippling.
For the future and that the only way to save Medicaid Medicare.
And Social Security.
Is by reforming and -- make in the sustainable otherwise we could go off that cliff and these programs could be a real jeopardy.
-- question.
As you look at all of you -- rivals now that you're you're officially in this race.
How tough is it going to be and how do you distinguish yourself in this race from all of your your fellow GOP.
Hopefuls I think we're far more effective.
And wise as people running for the Republican nomination not to spend our time shooting at one other.
But to make sure that our our sites are very much focused on the presidency and getting America right again and creating jobs and keeping America strong.
And -- these describe our -- vision for that and our own experience.
I believe I'm the guy that's in this race with 25 years of private sector experience also having run -- Olympics and run a state I've demonstrated what I can do.
The good in the bad.
And I believe that record and my vision is what will distinguish me from the rest of the field and hopefully give me a chance.
To get America strong again governor great to see if I think shows graduation time kind of an announcement that -- thank you.
And coming up here's a shocker sheriff yeah.
